How IIUI GPA and CGPA are calculated
The International Islamic University Islamabad grades absolutely. Its General Academic Rules publish a fixed grading scheme in which letter grades and grade points are determined from the marks obtained in the final examination and the semester work, so your grade depends on your own performance rather than your class's distribution.
IIUI awards no minus grades. The scale has eight levels stepping in halves: A (4.00), B+ (3.50), B (3.00), C+ (2.50), C (2.00), D+ (1.50), D (1.00) and F. There is no A-, B- or C- anywhere. A calculator that applies the eleven-grade HEC table to an IIUI transcript is inventing grades the university does not award.
There is a second IIUI-specific trap worth knowing before you plan around a grade: the minimum pass mark for a BS programme is 60%, not the 50% used at most universities. That sits well above the D and D+ bands, so passing a course and clearing your programme's threshold are not the same thing here.

A 15-credit-hour semester using IIUI's half-step grade points.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does IIUI have an A- or B- grade?
No. The IIUI grading scheme lists A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, D and F. That is eight levels in 0.50 steps, with no minus grades at all. If a calculator offers you an A- worth 3.67 for an IIUI course, it is not using the university's own scheme.
What are the minimum pass marks at IIUI?
They depend on the programme and they are high. IIUI's rules set 60% for BS and for MA, M.Sc and MBA, 65% for MS, M.Phil and LLM, and 70% for PhD. That is well above the 50% floor used at most Pakistani universities, so a course can sit in the D or D+ band and still fall short of your programme's requirement.
How is my grade decided?
From marks. IIUI's rules state that letter grades and grade points are determined on the basis of the marks obtained in the final examination together with the semester work. Students are assessed through mid-term exams held around week eight and terminal exams after week sixteen, alongside coursework such as presentations and class participation.
What happens if my CGPA drops below 2.00?
You are placed on probation. IIUI allows a limited number of probation semesters, three for undergraduate programmes, before a student is declared ceased and struck off the rolls. A student who falls short in the very first semester can be declared ceased straight away, so that first semester carries unusual weight.
Does an F count towards my IIUI CGPA?
Yes, from both directions. An F contributes 0.00 grade points while its credit hours remain in the denominator, so it lowers your average twice over. Enter it as a normal row with its real credit hours.
Why does this page's top band start at 80%?
Because it is the only lower bound that lets the published IIUI table cover the full range without a gap. Every band below it steps in five marks, so B+ is 75–79.99, B is 70–74.99, and so on. The printed handbook shows the top row unclearly, so check with the examinations office if you need the exact threshold. It does not affect grade entry, which is what this calculator uses.
